I found this birdhouse on Daily Danny - an eco-friendly blog by green living expert Danny Seo - and it reminded me of a funny story. You see, I LOVED The Fox & Hound when I was little. So much so, that my mom ordered me a personalized Fox & Hound story where the printer puts the child's (my) name in the text (see an example of what I'm talking about here). The problem is that I thought the book was really about me - that someone had written it specially about yours truly. My best friend Stephani's name was even in there, so I was sure! I guess I was a very literal child. Anyhoo, seeing this Fox & Hound book birdhouse brings it all back. And makes me smile.
Visit here to see how Danny puts together his book birdhouse - there's even a video from the Today show. It would be very fun to do a winter-hemed board book birdhouse for this time of year, or even for any holiday. Danny's got a lot of great eco-friendly ideas, so pay him a visit and tell him I sent you.

UCreate holiday boutique.
I'm so pleased to introduce the UCreate Holiday Boutique as a new sponsor of Mod Podge Rocks! I said it in another post - I'm shopping exclusively online this year for the holidays. This little Christmas hobbit doesn't want to come out of her hole this year. Plus I'm really focusing on handmade items. They are just so special and unique.
Kari from UCreate has put together the very cool UCreate Holiday Boutique. It's basically an online craft show with some of the most awesomest shops and websites around. UCreate readers are provided special discounts all in one convenient shopping place. The shop is only open this week, November 29th through December 4th. My suggestion? Get your shop on ASAP. You'll not only find perfect gifts for friends and family, but you'll be supporting handmade. And that's important.
Visit the UCreate Holiday Boutique right now. Please?

PeachyChic DIY jewelry kit giveaway.
I'm proud to be having a pretty cool giveaway today courtesy of PeachyChic. What is PeachyChic you ask? It's an online jewelry boutique with the nicest owner in the world, Miss Brooke. That's how we refer to adults in the south, by the way. We add "Miss" in front of their name. It's all formal and stuff.
PeachyChic offers beautiful ready made jewelry, but I *really* love the DIY jewelry kits. They are cute, priced very reasonably, and offer everything you need to make your own jewelry. You can completely customize the piece if you like, and best of all, you don't have to stand in front of the jewelry aisle at a craft store for three hours trying to figure out what to do. I love that.
Brooke is so sweet and kind that she is offering two DIY Vintage Christmas Necklace Kits to two Mod Podge Rocks readers - plus she's throwing in the chain. She loves Mod Podge and wants to share the love. You can add your own pictures (her choices are delightful), and you can also add some Mod Podge Dimensional Magic to the charms. Whee! Wouldn't these make great presents?
Here are the giveaway rules.
1. Comment on THIS blog entry. What is your favorite PeachyChic item? Mine is the black and turquoise vintage rosette necklace kit. Trust me, it was a tough call!
2. Only one entry per person. Two winners will be chosen.
3. Contest will close this Wednesday, December 1st at midnight (EST).
4. PLEASE leave your e-mail address if it's not attached in Blogger - I need some way to reach you.
5. I decided to throw in a Dimensional Magic for each winner. Yay!
Thanks Brooke! Contest disclosure here.
Winner of the Port-A-Pug giveaway was Creations for Eleanor.
Winners of the Scotch Double Stick Tape giveaway were Left Ovaries, Tonia, Shirley C, Emily, shobelle, catnap, Stefeni, Debra, jhitomi and Oh, My Darling.

Fabric vinyl wall decals.
What you see above is a fabric vinyl wall decal that is not actually fabric. I'm soooo mysterious today, aren't I? Vanessa from Punkin Patterns has developed a handy-dandy way to not-use your favorite fabrics to make vinyl wall decals. The best part? They aren't going to ruin your walls. Her little frog prince is cute as a button, and I especially love it in pink. To see her tutorial and get her secrets, visit her blog here.

You have a few days left to make an advent calendar.
I've never liked advent calendars as much as I do this year. Part of it is probably that I made a big one myself (you can see it here), but it's also because I'm seeing people raise the bar significantly when it comes to the Christmas countdown. Long gone are the days of the simple boxes with chocolate behind the door. It's all about the advent bling! One great example is pictured above - a matchbox calendar by Charlene from eWillow.com. If you haven't been to her site, she is a brilliant whiz with paper. This calendar is no exception. Charlene has provided all of the templates and tutorials here; if you want one zippity-doo you can also order one from her. If you want more advent calendar ideas, visit a cute roundup here.
Free canvas offer for Black Friday.
Do you remember this post about my free canvas from the Canvas People? I loved mine so much that I decided I'm going with customized canvases for all of my Christmas gifts. I'm not going out to shop this year because frankly, I just don't have the patience. This is when the internet rocks! Anyhoo, I just wanted to share with you that the Canvas People are having a 50% off promotion PLUS free shipping. Whee! Go here for the deal.
One last thing - my friend Allison from HowDoesShe got a canvas too, and look at how she decorated it for Christmas. Plus her little boy is so cute, I couldn't resist. Visit Canvas People to get yours!

I can make your love rocks.
There are so many reasons you should like these love rocks from Angie at Not the Office Type.
They are sweet as can be.
They use fabric scraps.
They use rocks - talk about budget crafting.
You can customize them for the holidays.
Kids love to play with them.
I could go on and on. These rocks touched my heart, and as I told Angie in the comments, somtimes the simplest things are the sweetest. If you have a chance this weekend, decoupage some rocks. Visit Angie to see more pictures right here.

Support your local small business - mine is Whipstitch.

Thanks to American Express for sponsoring my writing today about small businesses. American Express is presenting Small Business Saturday, a way to honor the local merchants who are the backbone of the economy, this Saturday, November 27. They're offering statement credits to people who shop at small businesses, advertising for small-business owners, and donations to Girls Inc. for "Likes" of the Small Business Saturday page on Facebook. Join the celebration by clicking the "Like" button and then visiting the Facebook page to learn more about the program and read the terms and conditions that apply.
Hey everyone! Small Business Saturday is coming up - I don't know about you, but I love to support small businesses. I know a lot of you have Etsy and other crafty online stores, and I salute you. I would like to talk about my favorite local small business, which happens to be located in Atlanta - Whipstitch.
It's an Etsy shop but also a brick and mortar store about 45 minutes from me - do you remember when I went there to meet Dana from Made? Deborah Moebes is the owner, and she's a very awesome person. Do you remember when I reviewed her brand new book, Stitch By Stitch? I don't get to talk much about sewing since this blog is all about Mod Podge, but sewing is how I started crafting when I was about ten years old. My mom made me go to sewing camp; I think that says enough. I can say that in all my years of sewing, one of the biggest sewing challenges has not been the sewing itself (although trust me, I've made my fair share of mistakes). The hardest thing has always been finding cute fabric! Deborah gets that, and one of her biggest goals was to create a destination for awesome fabrics, lessons and community. Whipstitch does it all. Thanks Deborah, for all you do. When you have a chance, please visit the Whipstitch site, the blog and the Etsy store. You won't be disappointed.
Also when you have a chance - tell me what your favorite small business is in the comments. Don't forget to show your support this Saturday!

I've recently done a sewing project and have a lot of leftover scrappy bits. You didn't know that I sew, did you? You might actually; I've probably told you and forgotten. Anyhoo, Melissa from A Hundred Billion Stars has posted a great way to use these bits and decorate your Christmas tree at the same time - a wooden spool garland. I love wooden spolls, they remind me of my childhood. So do fun handmade garlands. Visit here to learn more about the project and get instructions.
But that's not all today. I'm having giveaways out the wazoo, so why not another one? Scotch has so kindly offered to donate ten rolls of double sided tape for your holiday crafting and wrapping needs. I said okay - ten winners will receive one roll, so read below.

Project of the Week #119 - Magazine reed box.
I know that many people find the holidays to be the time where they "get their craft on" - I guess it's the cold weather, but something about winter tells me to make something. I found this magazine reed box on Craft Stylish as a guest post by my friend Sister Diane. Who doesn't have a gajillion magazines laying around? Do something with them! Her method is simple, and you can pick pages in the shades of your choice to customize your box. It's a great way to give a gift, and the box is reusable. You likely will hardly spend a penny on this project. For the full instructions with images, go here.

Port-a-pug giveaway.
Mod Podge Command Central is a one bedroom apartment with four residents - myself, a pomeranian named Walker Texas Ranger (Walker for short) and two snorty pugs. Roxie is the fawn one pictured above, and Nellie is the black one that you can see here. These three doggies are affectionately known as the "wugs," a term created by my friend Rachel (Walker and the pugs combined into one word). I love them more than anything in the whole world, that's for sure. They are worth all the loud snoring, vet bills and furball tumbleweeds that I have to deal with.
Why am I telling you this, you ask. Because of this:
Chronicle Books sent me the cutest little kit ever to give away to one Mod Podge Rocks reader. It's called Port-A-Pug, and I laughed out loud when I first saw it. Here's the description from the Chronicle site: "Port-a-Pug has all the perks and benefits of real dog ownership without the exhausting cleanup or the expensive upkeep. Easy to assemble, easy to transport, difficult not to adore." If you have a child that ask been asking you for a puppy, this might be the perfect gift solution. Do you have a friend who has a pug? This would be the perfect workplace companion. All you have to do to win is leave a comment to enjoy this fun Port-A-Pug!
Here are the rules:
1. Comment on THIS blog entry. Who will be the recipient of Port-A-Pug?
2. Only one entry per person.
3. Contest will close this Wednesday, November 24th at midnight (EST).
4. PLEASE leave your e-mail address if it's not attached in Blogger - I need some way to reach you.
5. I've had to shut down anonymous commenting temporarily because of really nasty comments (a lot of them) from spammers. I'll bring it back up soon.
The winner of the map giveaway was Laura Stewart.
Last week's winner of the Bic Mark It giveaway was Charla.
The ten winners of the t-shirt and starter pack giveaway were January, Denise, Crafty Carrie, Amy K, Victoria, zeshuregi, Queen of the Click, Jamiecrafts, Meilyn and Nora.

Customize your own paper mache beads.
I had a big collection of necklaces "back in the day." Now I really only bust them out for special occasions, and so I like to have something that coordinates with my attire. These paper mache beads by Diana at Confessions of a Craftaholic are perfect for customizing to your heart's content. The best part is that you can make them out of newspaper, which means you can have a pretty necklace made from rooting around in a garbage can. I love that. Please visit Diana's tutorial here; the color and shape of the beads is up to you.

DIY big box advent calendar.
I recently got a passel of paper mache boxes from AC Moore. I don't use paper mache that much, and now I'm wondering why because it paints and Mod Podges wonderfully. Anyhoo, I laid my boxes out on a table, thinking about what to do wtih them - then it came to me. Advent calendar! Sometimes crafty ideas just land in your brain, and that's exactly what happened. I can honestly say that this is one of the most fun projects I've ever done. Read on to see how I did it and view more pictures. I'm getting caught up in the holiday magic, what can I say?

Flower-y knob box for organizing.
I am lucky enough to live in the same state (Georgia) as Brenda Pinnick - the designer who created this week's die for the Sizzix Blog Hop. I even got to visit her once and work in her studio (see that post here). It was a pleasure to use her beauty bloom flower die this week - I like it because of the versatility; her shapes work with anything. I also got to try out her new fabric line Couleur Vie produced by Henry Glass - some of the blooms were cut with her fabric. I combined her flower designs with some fun papers and a few other Sizzix dies to decorate my box. It's vibrant and flowery, so that means I'm pleased. Here's how to make it yourself.

Very special DIY spice drawers.
I'm not sure what your spices look like, but mine are loosely thrown into a blue bin in my pantry. When I saw these pretty spice drawers decoupaged by Erin at Fresh Nest, it made me very happy. There is hope for my spices, and the possibility of making my kitchen cabinets look halfway decent. I actually know Erin more for her clear stamps (which you can see at her design blog here), but it didn't surprise me one bit that she Mod Podges like a pro. Visit the full blog entry here.

Recycled lunch bag mini-album.
I squealed when I saw this project by Avital at Creativity Prompt - I love, love mini-albums. Recycled ones are even better. I would say that Avital is one of the most talented people I know when it comes to recycling items into something wonderful. She has a knack, you know? Avital used the perfect paper to give the project a worn out, vintage-y look. You should make one too, and there's a video to watch. Avital has always taken good care of her readers like that. Bic Mark It Permanent Marker Collection review and giveaway.
I'm a huge fan of permanent markers. HUGE. I use them on all types of craft projects, including Mod Podge-y type ones. When I was asked to review this set of Bic Mark It Permanent Markers, I said "yay!" Part of the deal was that if I reviewed the markers, one of you would get a set too. As you know, that's how I like to roll.

Daydreamer altered art piece.
Sometimes art is fun just for art's sake - and I love it when you start "playing" and the project turns out great. A perfect example of this is this Daydreamer altered art piece by Shelley at Single Stone Studios. She started out with some fabric bits, ink, stamps and a sketch . . . and look what it all turned into to. Awesome, huh? You'll definitely want to visit Shelly's posts about the project here, here and here. You should also visit the Single Stone Studios site right here because they sell some awesome wall decals. Shelley, you are one talented chica!

Upcycled green and teal floral chalkboard.
What do you do with a plain, white, framed piece of wood that you find randomly at work? I don't know about you, but I make a chalkboard! Then I add polka dots and flowers until I can barely see straight. Then I hang it on the wall and admire my work. You can do the same. Here's how to make a piece of wood into a chalkboard, and embellish it with tons of fun flowers. Whee!

Holiday shadowbox ornament with mini action.
I'm back for another round of the Sizzix Triple Play Blog Hop, and I'm so excited about this project. I wasn't quite sure what to do with the 3-D cube by Karen Burniston at first, but I eagerly accepted the challenge. I knew there was something wonderful that could be done with it. Sometimes the obvious escapes me, and it was designer (and my friend) Holli who suggested that I do a little holiday shadowbox. Thanks Holli, I owe you one. Here are the instructions for my cube shadowbox, which can also be an ornament for a tree.

Non-traditional monogrammed wreath.
I'm not the most traditional of people (the mis-matched socks gave me away?), and so a plain door wreath simply won't do for me. When I spotted this cheery yellow wreath by Kristy of the Diary of Dave's Wife on City Cradle Design, I knew it had to be mine. I love the yellow, but I would paint my blue. Oh, and it definitely needs an "A" in the center. Don't you think that people who share their projects online are so kind? I never would have come up with this, but I can make one now. If you want to make one too, visit the original tutorial here. With Kristy's handy-dandy tutorial, we'll all have fun wreaths in no time.

Make your own map dresser, and giveaways.
I've always loved maps; I can't get over them decoupaged onto things. Kristin from Domestic Ease did just that with her fun dresser above. I really, really love the maps, but even more so do I love that they were just decoupaged onto the fronts of the drawers. Sometimes less is more, no? Visit the entire blog entry here.
But that's not all. There are two giveaways to know about.
1) Kristin has ten vintage National Geographic maps to giveaway to a reader, so that one of you can decoupage map a project. I will throw in some Hard Coat Mod Podge for you, too. Just leave a comment on this entry and tell us what you would Mod Podge with the maps and Hard Coat by this Friday, November 12th at midnight, EST.
2. Domestic Ease is having a BIG $500 Pottery Barn giftcard giveaway at their blog right now. Just leave a comment on any post between now and this Friday, November 12th. You'll be entered to win. Visit their super fantastic blog here.

Mod Podge Flickr group roundup for fall.
I haven't done a Mod Podge Flickr group roundup in awhile, and I think just about now is the time. We'll start with this fun photo from Suzy Tolen, which pretty much sums up how I feel most of the time (check out that cute little bottle on the table).
Don't you love it? Here are some additional fun pics I had to share.

Gorgeous fall table runner.
I am SO ready for fall that you wouldn't believe it. Why? I'm a sweater, people. Not like the fuzzy jumpers you wear, but the armpits. If it's 70 degrees outside, I'm hot. Yes, I live in Atlanta. It's because my life is ironic, and because I'm a glutton for heat punishment. The good news is that it's cold now, so you can feel less sorry for me.
Pinky from Much Ado About Nothing likes fall too, and she made this beautiful fall table runner to prove it. I really love her color combinations - really love them - and the frames are just perfect. They are hit with some Mod Podge and "mega-glitter." You could do something like this for a fall runner, but it might also make a great wall hanging. Check it out here.

Do you like Sophie above, with her cute underbite? I do. She's wearing a very cute dog tag. Guess what? I'm so excited to be having a Dog Tag Art giveaway today. You know I love my piggies more than anything, and I do spoil them sometimes. I also make them take silly pictures:
But it's really only because I love them. They also get lots of treats and cuddles too, promise. Yes. I'm a crazy dog owner.
So when Dog Tag Art asked me if I'd like to do a giveaway for MPR readers, I asked where I could sign up. I always like to do giveaways that are relevant crafters, and that's what I love about Dog Tag Art - you can customize your own pet tags. That means that you can draw or craft anything you want, take a picture of it or scan it, and make a pet tag out of it. I love it! Cat owners, this works for you too.
Here are some favorites I found on the Dog Tag Art site that people submitted. Cute, huh?
Like I said, you can upload anything you want. You can even upload a pic of a Mod Podge bottle. Hey, why didn't I think of that until now?
Dog Tag Art is kicking in five free tags, one for each of five winners. Not only that, but they are throwing in a subscription to Virtual Leash for each winner. Virtual Leash allows pet owners to keep an updated website (profile) for their pet. The website is printed on the tag, and should the pet become lost, the finder can access the website to find emergency contact information. Additionally, the website has the ability to send pet owners and other contacts updates through email, Facebook, Twitter, text message and voicemail. It’s both creative and extremely convenient when it comes to pet security.
If you don't have a cat or dog, you may have a friend or family member that does - think about winning this as a gift for them!

I'm also doing the standard issue starter pack for each of the five winners. Just leave a comment to win.
Rule reminder:
1. Comment on THIS blog entry. Which dog or kitty in your life will get a pretty tag?
2. Only one entry per person; five winners will be selected.
3. Contest will close this Wednesday, November 10th at midnight (EST).
4. PLEASE leave your e-mail address if it's not attached in Blogger - I need some way to reach you.
Last week's starter pack winner was Mickey.

Nesquick container makeover with Mod Podge.
I completely forgot about Nesquick until I saw this container makeover by master papercrafter Charlene from eWillow. Nesquick is delicious, although I might use an entire container in one glass of milk. But if I did that, I could make several of these cute containers just like Charlene. She did such a great job with this one - go tell Charlene how much you like it too right here.

Mod Podge your kitchen cabinet doors.
My friend Katie from Food, Wine and Mod Podge is pretty amazing - not only is she an awesome cook, but she's an accomplished Podger. She combines her loves on a regular basis at her blog (don't worry, not in the same bowl or anything), and that's exactly what she did with these kitchen cabinet doors. The fabric is perfect and so are her skillz. Please visit here to learn more about the project. She's also having a starter pack giveaway to celebrate her blog anniversary that ends today, so go there now.

Fun fall house diorama.
I am so tickled blue (my favorite color) to be participating in the Sizzix Triple Play Blog Hop for the months of November and December. What does this mean, you ask? It means that every Thursday, you can see the works of 60 designers (including yours truly) using the same Sizzix die. I absolutely ADORE Sizzix, so this was a no-brainer. Here's my project.
Say hello to my wee fall house diorama. It's definitely kid-oriented, and I believe it's a project that you and your children can have fun doing together. Moms, you'll have to do the cutting, but some of the painting and the Mod Podge can be left up to the kids. How do you make this wee diorama? Read below.

Mod Podge deer stool with template.
The girls from Prudent Baby are awesome - they always come up with the best ideas, and they are always simple. And beautiful! That is completely how I want to roll with my projects, so they are one of my bloggie idols. Not only is this stool cute, but you can make it too. Visit here to get the deer template - and don't be afraid to apply it to other projects.
Before you leave, please visit my friend Katie at Food, Wine and Mod Podge. It's her first year anniversary, and she's giving away a starter pack. All you have to do is leave a comment - go here to win.

Vintage arrows handmade with Mod Podge.
Interesting child's room decor can be hard to come by - so you know I'm going to point out the unusual I find, especially if it involves Mod Podge. I fell in love-at-first-site with these vintage arrows by Danielle from Thompson Family Life, done as a guest post for Modern Kiddo. I imagine that decorating boy's walls is not as easy as it seems, so these arrows fit the bill nicely. They also look so fun to put together! Visit the full tutorial here.

DIY Star Wars toys.
Lindsey from Filth Wizardry has no way of knowing how happy she made me (in addition to her children) when she created these DIY Star Wars toys. There have been few times since starting this blog that I have been rendered speechless - this is one of those times. These toys are AMAZING, and they are all sealed with Mod Podge. She's also created some transportation to go with them. I can't talk anymore, you just have to visit here now to see everything.
