Ring in the new year with some subway art in a sparkle frame.

Prepare yourself for the fastest tutorial in the universe, truly.  I wanted something a little crafty for New Year's, and it turns out that crafty ideas aren't that easy to find for the first day of the year.  I was also running short on time, so it had to be quick.  All of the sudden, a Craft Gossip e-mail newsletter pops into the ol' inbox, and so did this cute (and free) printable by Custom Printables.  How very crafty-meant-to-be. Here's how it's done.

Gather These Supplies

Frame - mine is from Dollar Tree
Mod Podge Sparkle
Krylon Gold Spray Paint
Custom Printables Happy New Year 2011 Subway Art (this is for personal use only)
Paintbrush

Here's the starting frame.  Black.  Plain.  Needs something.  I sprayed with gold spray paint and allowed to dry.

Add several layers of Sparkle Mod Podge to the outside of the frame and allow to dry.

Print out the printable and trim to fit; put in your frame.

I'm serious, that's all it takes!  I didn't even really need a tutorial, but I thought it would be fun given how easy it is.  Now I have a nice little crafty decoration to ring in the new year.  Come back tomorrow for my top five favorite things of 2010.  You're gonna love it.

I'm not a big fan of "flat" gold, I had no idea sparkle mod podge could transform it like that. Thanks!

This is my biggest hurdle: spray painting indoors, how do you do it? I'm scared I'll have spray all over my craft room LOL please help! Great post :0)

Thanks everyone!! mijizanine - you should not spray paint inside because of the fumes. They can hurt your lungs! I actually spray painted outside and then brought the frame in to dry - most crafties I know do that. Here's a little DIY spray paint tent you could do in the garage:
